UF Sports Performance Center featured on TV 20's Your Health segment

UF Ortho PMR and Research Divisions present at the Annual AAPMR Assembly on Function Through Exercise

The Divisions of Physical Medicine and Research had a significant presence at the Annual Assembly of the The American Academy of Phy​sical Medicine and Rehabilitation.  This year's assembly took place in San Diego, California on November 13-14, 2014.  The highlight of the assembly was "A focus of function through exercise."

UF Sports Performance Center volunteers to help the Cade Museum for Creativity and Invention

The UF Sports Performance Center team volunteers to help the Cade Museum for Creativity and Invention in the “We Believe Community Campaign” for a night of “Physics of Football” on October 10th, 2014. Dr. Heather Vincent, Cong Chen, Laura Ann Zdziarski and Joseph Wasser teamed up with Engineering’s Dr. Scott Banks for an evening of fun with Special guest Danny Wuerffel .

UFSPC hosts the Thompson Brothers Lacross Program and provides throwing analysis data for its athletes.

The UF Sports Performance Center proudly hosted the Thompson Brothers Lacrosse Program on August 12, 2014. Miles, Lyle, Jeremy and Jerome Thompson, Bill O'Brien and Hunter Hemlock all participated in lacrosse throwing analysis and other measures to help the scientists better understand the mechanics of this growing sport.  Players represented national, professional and collegiate lacrosse programs (Rochester Rattlers, Iroquois Nationals, Albany Great Danes).

Doctors Kevin and Heather Vincent have been featured in the Wall Street Journal article about the dynamic shift in regards to selecting the right running shoe.

"It's been a learning curve for all of us in the field," says Heather Vincent, director of the University of Florida Sports Performance Center. "For so long, running shoes were designed to change how the feet move or restrict how they move."

PhD student Laura Ann Zdziarski, ATC, (mentors Drs. Heather Vincent and MaryBeth Horodyski) presented her oral presentation session on the lab’s sports performance research “Sex Differences in Pelvic & Trunk Rotation during a Lacrosse Throw” May 30, 2014. Drew Slater, a senior intern of Dr. Heather Vincent, developed and presented a poster entitled “Kinematic Characterization of Lacrosse Shooting Motions of the Dominant And Non-Dominant Side”.
